The answer to managing the performance of remote Headends

The 860 DSPh cable analyzer continually monitors forward channel performance, generates SNMP traps if a test is out of limits, provides live view of problems via Internet. The 860 DSPh is simple to install and use and is very cost-effective. Unlike other digital cable analyzers, the 860 DSPh analyzer includes:

  • Automatically scans levels, other key parameters

    Refreshes all carrier amplitude measurements every 30 seconds (single port).

  • Compares to user-set limits, issues SNMP Traps

    Allows multiple trap definitions for multiple operators. Also Traps on sudden changes in parameters.

The new Trilithic 860 DSPh is the ideal instrument for managing signal quality in remote headends or other facilities where access is restricted or local technical personnel are not available. Based on the powerful, cost-effective 860 DSPi Cable Analyzer, the new 860 DSPh remote headend analyzer provides continuous visibility of signal quality, at a price that makes general deployment practical. Using a network of 860 DSPhs, operated through Viewer II monitoring Application Software, the operator can monitor signal quality at many sites throughout his system from a single location and be alerted to problems quickly if they occur. Depending on options, each 860 DSPh remote headend analyzer can monitor the performance of up to sixteen independent inputs.

The DSPh remote headend analyzer is usually set to operate automatically, monitoring key forward and reverse parameters, logging and analyzing measurement data against user-programmable limits. If a parameter falls outside of limits, the 860 DSPh can dispatch a range of SNMP traps to multiple destinations, where Viewer II Monitoring Application Software alerts the operator to the problem. The 860 DSPh can also detect rapid changes in measurement results for a given channel and generate a warning trap.

The operator may then take control of the Trilithic DSPh remote headend analyzer directly, and use its powerful analytical tools to determine the cause of the problem.

Communicating with remote 860 DSPhs, Interrogator collects Forward Path Test Data, manages traps issued for out-of-limit conditions and enables the operator to view and analyze up to 150 downstream digital and analog channel signal levels and quality in hundreds of remote hubs. Integral reports provide a permanent record of headend performance.

    This WorkBench Lite software also includes a 30-day evaluation period for the advanced datalog analysis features of WorkBench. After 30 days elapse without a registration code being entered, the advanced datalog analysis feature will be de-activated. To unlock the advanced datalog analysis features aftter the 30-day evaluation period, you will need to obtain a license for the premium version of the WorkBench software.     860 DSPh Rf Switch Configuration

    Any 860 DSPh can be configured to support a single input, a 1x4 internal Rf switch, or an external 1x16 Rf switch. Depending on your configuration, you need to configure the 860 DSPh accordingly. Normally, everything is configured from the factory correctly but if you change the configuration in the field, you may need to change the 860 DSPh main unit. The switch setting in the main 860 DSPh is important because it controls how the unit switches from input to input as well as how the calibration tables are loaded.

Firmware

WARNING! This firmware is appropriate for most users, but some MSO’s do have different update policies in place.  As such, in some cases the standard firmware may render certain test functions inoperable. Please contact your manager before updating your firmware.

  • Prevents an error mode caused by switching input ports in "Live" mode. The unit now always starts in "NO TEST" mode when the input port is switched.

To apply the Trilithic 860 DSPh firmware update:

  1. Unzip DSPh.10.6.20.1.zip
  2. Connect the PC to your 860 DSPh using the 860 DSPh serial cable
  3. Run DSPh.10.6.20.1.exe
  4. It will take approximately five minutes to upgrade the main application.
  5. After upgrading the main application the unit will reboot and upgrade out-of-date applications for approximately two minutes.
  6. The program will only upgrade out of date applications

All repairs carry a 90-day warranty against defects in replacement parts and repair workmanship.

Products

All Trilithic products are warranted against defects in materials or workmanship for a minimum of one year after shipment.

Trilithic's obligation under this warranty is limited to the repair or replacement of the product after being returned to our factory, and Trilithic determining the product be indeed defective.

This is Trilithic's sole warranty and is given in lieu of all other warranties, expressed or implied, including warranties of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose and sets forth the buyers sole remedy.
